Anthea McGibbon the Jamaican artist


Beyond writing, paralegal and all, Anthea McGibbon is an artist honing literary, visual, culinary then performing skills.

I can’t get enough of art, I therefore can’t give enough – so I keep on giving my heart to art, and my arts to all hearts” Anthea McGibbon

Anthea McGibbon is a trained and expert photographer who has enjoyed a range of top end clients from antique dealers, antique collectors, Embassies. Her services have been sucred for family portraits and wedding photography. While at the Gleaner she photographed popular personalities like Richard Scrushy when he was getting married.
Anthea McGibbon who is a graduate of the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts, and intern to many IS more as an artist however. She paints.
Influenced by her extensive travels as far as South Korea, she is influenced to paint adding to her collection of images (mostly photographs) what she feels are her essay of her sojourns. Then she zeroes in on capturing with her brush strokes her own paradise. Her solo exhibition in Philadelphia titled “Caribbean Paradise” of photographs and a few paintings in the early 2000s is still impacting on many. So now she adds in her portfolio of paintings, the following series:

Jamaica scapes of seas, rivers, land

She works in different medium such as watercolour, and timely she masters oil, acrylic, oil pastel, chalk pastel, charcoal sketches. Her canvasvaries from canvas, acetate paper, watercolour paper, human bodies and faces, but they are all loved.
